Flow Execution Statuses

Flow statuses display the current state of the Flow execution. Flows start as Submitted and go through In Progress and Complete and end in a result status of Success, Skipped, Error or Technical Error. Below is a list of the all the status and their descriptions, one may see when working with Flows in the Chain.io portal:

  • Submitted
When data is sent to Chain.io to start a flow, it is marked as Submitted. Flows are processed in the order they're received. If there's a backlog due to throttles, the status remains Submitted until execution begins.

  • In Progress
This status indicates the flow is currently processing. Refresh the page after a minute to update.

  • Pending Acknowledgement
This status appears when the flow has finished and the data is sent, but the destination hasn't confirmed receipt. The status changes to Success or Error based on the destination's response. If there's no acknowledgment within a set period, it changes to Error.

  • Complete
After completing the flow and sending the output, the result is being determined. The status will soon update to a final result.

  • Success
The data is believed to be successfully delivered by Chain.io. Review transaction logs for anomalies. If nothing unusual is found, and the receiving system hasn't received the data, contact support with a screenshot.

  • Skipped
This status means the flow was triggered, but no action was necessary due to configuration settings. It could be due to incorrect files or specific filtering configurations.

  • Error
Indicates a problem with the data or system you are connecting to. If you get a message about a Logical Fail or another error, log in to the portal with the link provided in that message and check the Summary Message and Events Log for details and attempt to resubmit the Flow.

Errors such as these usually stem from faulty data (requiring sender correction) or issues on the receiver's end. It is your responsibility to triage and resolve this type of error along with your trading partners.

  • Technical Error
Signifies an issue within Chain.io's processing environment. Contact support immediately if they haven't reached out.  It is Chain.io's responsibility to resove this type of error.
